I heard someone say to me one time "Keep It Simple Stupid"! I can't help but wonder if God is sitting in heaven wanting to say the same thing to us. We have over complicated this being a Christian thing. As believers we get rapped up in this world of "christian talk" and speak in terms and phrases that we only use on Sundays, you know what I mean! We quickly forget where we came from...also we kind of put a doormat at the door and say you have to clean up your life before we let you in. This is not how God intended it! He wants us to come to him as we are, imperfect, hurting, lonely, full of pride and selfish thinking only of ourselves so he can humble us, break us and fill us with his love and we can allow the Holy Spirit to convict and change lives. I heard someone once say they look at the bible as a bunch of rules and things you can and can't do. Wow, this is sad, it shows me where the church has gone wrong. I look at it as with my kids, I love them and want to have a relationship so they want to obey me because they don't want to let Dad down or hurt my feelings so because they love me they will obey me and this will only come from a relationship with them. This is the way I see it...we have a relationship with God and out of that we grow to know him and love him and will want to obey the word so that we would not disappoint God. This whole thing is about a relationship with God and with people around us, so the next time you are feeling overwhelmed with, "What does God want me to do?" or "I am not perfect and can not keep up with all the things to do and not do as a christian", remember K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid)!!!
